Mainframe Assembler programming is still a crucial skill for maintaining and
improving the old systems that run industries like finance, government, and
transportation. Even with newer programming languages, Assembler remains
valuable because of its efficiency and control over system resources. This paper
looks at how Assembler is used today, explores the challenges and opportunities
ahead, including the future need for Assembler programmers, automation
advancements, and how Assembler could work with emerging technologies like AI
and cloud computing. It also discusses how organizations can continue to use
Assembler while dealing with the shortage of skilled programmers in this area.
