In this presentation, I will explore effective strategies for how companies can
attract and engage with young talent with IBM Z technology. I’ll start by
sharing a brief overview of my own background, including my decision to enter
work in Z despite having no prior training. This personal experience will set
the stage for a deeper discussion on what young professionals, like myself, seek
during job and internship hunting. I will then outline actionable steps
companies can take to appeal to the next generation of Z learners. This includes
proactive marketing to universities through social media, career fairs, career
services events, guest lectures, club partnerships, and hackathons.
Additionally, I’ll highlight the importance of offering internships and job
opportunities, particularly paid positions, to attract and retain young talent.
Drawing from my own experience as a 20-year-old college student who attended
summer SHARE in New Orleans, I’ll emphasize the value of such events and
especially SHARE since student registration is free.
