The spectrum of messaging styles has widened, with application requirements
diverging. Many applications require precise delivery and assurances, while
others take on that responsibility themselves and instead focus on data
retention and replay. This breadth of approaches has led to a need for multiple
related technologies to satisfy them, with two best of breed technologies being
IBM MQ and Apache Kafka. The first focuses on message queues, and the second on
event streaming. However, this is not always a hard divide, and an application
solution will often require both. This session will first look at the unique
advantages of each technology and then explain how they can work together to
solve the most challenging business requirements.
