When Scott Chapman joined Enterprise Performance Strategies in 2014, he brought
with him over 20 years of experience in IT in a z/OS environment, but then had
to shift to managing an IT environment built in AWS. Over the past 10 years as
both EPS and the AWS offering catalog have grown, Scott has learned much about
AWS and formed a few opinions that might be of interest to those who have a
mandate for migrating all or part of their mainframe workload to the cloud.
Spoiler alert: not all the grass is greener on the other side of the fence! In
this session you’ll get a brief introduction to some AWS terms and services
which will give you a basis for understanding what those cloud people are
talking about. And you may be surprised to hear what Scott misses most from the
z/OS mainframe environment.
