IBM has offered the ability to dynamically add permanent processing capacity as well as add and remove temporary capacity. Temporary capacity can be either replacement capacity for unplanned outages, such as disaster recovery situations; for temporary planned outages, such as datacenter relocations; or capacity in the form of prepaid and billable short-term (daily) capacity. IBM recently introduced two new temporary capacity options: System Recovery Boost Upgrade and z Business Resilience Stress Test (zBuRST). In this session, I will cover these offerings: what each is and is applicability, how to initiate an order for capacity, and how to activate capacity that has been ordered. This session will benefit those new to capacity on-demand offerings, and those who are looking to learn about the two latest temporary capacity offerings.
