This session will review how mainframe capacity planning can be optimized to
reduce costs and improve performance. Techniques to review cpu performance,
configuration and other overlooked opportunities for tuning and visualization
will be reviewed and demonstrated through a case-study. The session will also
include a demonstration of a case study using capacity planning techniques to
effectively analyze differing hardware targets and identify CPU distribution,
capping and performance outcomes. These methods lead to the goal of reducing
software costs by safely deferring capacity activation.
