In this MVS Core Technologies Project Opening session, the Project Manager (PM) will discuss the topics this project covers, introduce the volunteers who support the project, and explain how you can assist us in an ongoing, or even, infrequent basis. The PM will point out some new sessions presented by the project, highlight some sessions hosted by other projects we believe are relevant to our platform, and cover any other administrivia you should know about.
Then we will hear about hot APARs from a member of Level 2.
Next, our keynote speaker from the Washington Systems Center (WSC) will discuss Hot Topics in System z hardware and z/OS software. The WSC is involved in many aspects of IBM product support, including early support programs (ESP), electronic Q and A, technical bulletins, flashes, and other forms of support for IBM representatives and customers. The speaker will present a number of topics of current interest gleaned from these activities, such as configuration, installation, performance, and migration. This session is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in the z/OS System Control Program (SCP) or related program products such as HCD, TSO/E and SMP/E, installation of products and service, Parallel Sysplex, and anything else related to the z/OS operating system.
Presenter(s): Edward Jaffe, Phoenix Software International; Riaz Ahmad, IBM Corporation; Sam Knutson, GEICO and Evan Haruta, IBM Corporation
