Today, millennials account for almost 50% of the workforce, but how many are working in your mainframe shop? With a lack of mainframe knowledge taught in most colleges and high schools, finding a new hire with any mainframe experience can prove almost impossible. With the daunting task of replacing a quickly depleting workforce, some companies have turned to on-the-job training, which comes with its own set of challenges. I'm here to share my experience as a millennial learning the mainframe on-the-job. This session will include best practice training ideas, creating development plans, and benefits of on-the-job training. With a constantly changing industry, learning to make compromises and accepting new ways of doing old things can be the difference between a new hire becoming a tenured employee.-Jessica Muszynski-Aetna
