z16 and z/OS are providing a solution for Validated Boot for z/OS, which will
allow IPL-time validation of digital signatures for certain z/OS executables, as
they are being loaded for execution, that have been previously built and signed
as part of the solution. In conjunction with support for Digital Signatures for
z/OS Software Packages via GIMZIP, which uses digital signatures to validate the
delivery of code packages from the software vendor to the client, the Validated
Boot for z/OS solution significantly strengthens the chain of trust for
executing z/OS code, helping to ensure that it has not been tampered with during
the install, build, deployment, and IPL processes. The presentation will provide
an overview of the solution and describe the various one-time and recurring
setup steps needed to take full advantage of Validated Boot for z/OS, as you
build and maintain your z/OS system over time.
