VS Code is one of the most popular editors on the planet. Although it is
light-weight, easy to install and configure it has a massive eco-system and
community with many thousands of extensions supporting almost every language and
technology imageable. With the many z/OS development extensions for VS Code now
available, you can now offer a modern developer experience for z/OS Enterprise
Application development to your next generation of developers. In this session
we are walking you through the steps of setting up an end-to-end development
environment for languages that can run on z/OS covering COBOL, PL/I, JCL, REXX,
and Assembler. You will learn about the best VS Code extensions to install, how
to configure the editor, bring in your code from Git, connect to z/OS, edit your
code/data files/SQL queries, build from the editor, debug your code, analyze
abends, and finally how to integrate with pipelines.
