SHARE Columbus 2022
It has been 50 years since the SHARE Security Project was formed to address the
issues of data security. Although though data security is one of the largest
issues of today, at the beginning, not that many people were concerned about it.
The mainframe community has been formally discussing it and addressing it since
the beginning.
Our first presentation to SHARE included Eldon Worley (who later became the
architect of the revised RACF system) and Barry Schrager (who later became the
architect of ACF2) and was on our concepts for Data Security. The mainframe is
recognized as the most secure (ok, "securable") platform today, and SHARE played
a large role in achieving this.
This presentation will cover the history of data security and the issues facing
us today.
