Session Description/ Abstract Performance Optimization managed services are used
by many mainframe users in order to maximize the use of resources, increase
application availability, and optimize performance. There isn't one single big
button to push - these recommendations take time to develop, deploy, and
measure. These optimizations cover overall system configuration, IO priority,
WLM Policy review and changes, batch recommendations for splitting or changing
the batch cycle to avoid big spikes. The main technical recommendations executed
which produced the most results are explained. This are usually the WLM policy
review and changes as well as logical CPU configurations and CPs for the LPARs.
This can include application modernization (i.e., update of COBOL or PL/I
compliers). This session showcases a successful assessment and includes the
recommendations implemented for this transformation project as well as the
before and after results scenario.
