Adopting modern application development methodologies using modern development tools enables the next generation of application developers to create and enhance applications using Db2 for z/OS. This demonstration uses Java and native stored procedures with dependencies on db2 tables. The process flow would also apply to other application types such as COBOL, PLI, Java, Db2 for z/OS native rest services, and other application artifact types. The demonstration will start with git clone and self-service creation of the application, including a developer schema that includes the tables the application is dependent on, and registration of sandbox as a deployment target. Perform Db2 and application schema changes, commit and push the changes to gitlab server, automation will deploy the changes to developer sandbox and run automated validation tests. Developer performs unit tests, continues to make changes. When the developer is done unit testing, they make a pull request to integrate the changes into the team feature branch. Review and approvals are performed, and upon approval team branch is updated, team members subscribed to team branch receive notification and the ability to self-service upgrade their environment.-Patrick Bossman-IBM Corporation
