Real-time monitors are an important tool for z/OS systems programmers and performance analysts. They provide a wealth of metrics about what is going on, but sometimes it can be difficult to decide which monitor is relevant to a problem and what each monitor means. Often times, system performance work is reactive to the information from real-time monitors. In this session, we'll share hints and tips from our experiences on how to be proactive about system performance by looking at your SMF records and using tools like MXG and CPExpert. You will leave with a list of performance best practices to use in your own shop.
