COBOL is used in a large number of mainframe shops yet it is alien to many systems programmers.
Topics covered will be some COBOL 2014 enhancements and would your shop use them if IBM implemented them: • Are your shop's COBOL options giving the best performance?
• Does any shop use EGL and how does it carry packed signed decimal numbers?
• For predecessor CSP positive numbers had an F zone NOT C and negative numbers had the tradition D zone.
• How your shop can use nested copy for performance.
• Anything else of interest to the attendees at this session.
