The July hardware announcement of zEnterprise 196 was accompanied by a new software announcement for Advanced Workload License Charges (AWLC). This session will cover AWLC and how it applies to the z196 and to mixed environments of z196 and older System z hardware. The transition plan will also be covered. When you require additional capacity you may turn to a z196 rather than continuing to invest in older technology. At that time you’ll want to understand all the benefits and features of the z196 including software pricing changes as part of your Total Cost of Acquisition and Total Cost of Ownership analysis.
If you have multiple machines it is unlikely you’ll change them simultaneously and hence you’ll need to understand the transition plan that IBM offers for a PricingPlex with mixed hardware technologies.
