CICS WLM: Improved Throughput from Optimized WLM

In CICS Version 4.1, workload throughput was improved by the introduction of a more efficient workload management optimisation function. In CICS Version 4.2 WLM was further enhanced by the introduction of new routing algorithms that exclude the link weighting factor. This session will explain how the Optimised WLM algorithm operates, the implications it has on the use of Coupling Facility resources and the tuning parameters available to manage it. This session will show how optimised WLM also removes the batching phenomenon previously seen in a distributed workload. Finally we will also discuss the new routing algorithms and how these can be of benefit. Ian Mitchell ; IBM Corporation
