IBM just announced Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, V6.1! This new version continues the evolution of
COBOL compilers, with migration improvements and both new and improved features. Come and
hear all about it! Some of the topics to be covered:
* Increased compiler capacity
* JSON GENERATE statement
* New features added from the ISO 2002 COBOL Standard
* New and enhanced compiler options for ease of migration and programmer productivity
* Runtime and product-related enhancements
Enterprise COBOL V5.2 also has many new features to improve programmability, developer productivity, and application modernization. It provides COBOL applications access to new z/OS JSON services. JSON is a lightweight data exchange format. It is becoming more popular with mobile applications. Supporting JSON will provide mobile (i.e. system of engagement) applications easy access to data and the processing they need from business critical enterprise (i.e. system of record) applications that are written in COBOL.
