There has been a lot of discussion and even angst over the future of the mainframe platform. The continued vitality of the mainframe affects the entire mainframe ecosystem: customers; consultants; software vendors; hardware vendors; and of course the owner of the mainframe franchise.
Recognizing this; the Central Ohio Mainframe User’s Group (COMUG) has undertaken an interesting thought experiment: if we owned the mainframe franchise; what would we do to grow the mainframe ecosystem and ensure its survival for the next 50 years? What fundamental problems and pressures must be addressed? How can we do that without eviscerating our revenue stream and profits?
Come to this session and hear what we came up with. Not everybody will agree with all of our conclusions; but hopefully our work will spark useful discussion.-Scott Chapman-Enterprise Performance Strategies Inc.; Bruce Dennis-Nationwide Insurance
