The z10 and z/VM 5.4.0 introduced "VM mode LPARs", that is an environment where a z/VM logical partition with a general purpose processor(s) can also have a combination of ICFs, zIIPs, zAAPs, and IFLs. While this allows for greater flexibility, it also presents some new challenges for performance management and capacity planning. This session will review these challenges and present approaches to deal with them from a tuning and performance tuning perspective. After this session, you won't be afraid to 'mix it up' a little.
