First ITIL saved the world, now DEVOPS. And both have been hijacked to mean different things to different people, mostly depending on what is being sold. The fundamental issue is that business consumes information; it is acquired, transformed, stored and (should be) secured.
So how do good practices address all of the components of the lifecycle? Mostly, they don't unless you know the big picture and go beyond the hype of whatever buzz words are being used to sell you the latest go-faster stripe that has been pasted on to last year's product or service (or more likely whatever was built ten years ago...).
This presentation is about the lifecycle of information (and data...) management and how so many disparate methods and relationships need to come together to make things work for the only people that matter; no, not 'certified' experts---the business.-Darren Arcangel-CA Technologies
