Writing programs to access DB2 data can be achieved using a number of available languages and the SQL concepts are nearly identical with all of them. REXX is a powerful, favorite language for many programmers because of its simple yet flexible syntax. There are few limits to what can be accomplished quickly and easily when combining REXX with DSNREXX to access DB2 tables.
In this one hour session, we will build a REXX program piece-by-piece to SELECT rows from any DB2 table. We will thoroughly demonstrate the use of DSNREXX and advanced SQL concepts in REXX programs. You will learn how to use REXX to dynamically build column lists to SELECT columns using an SQLDA. Our finished product will include DML, DCL, DDL, and we will use some advanced REXX techniques in the process.
This session is for REXX and DB2 SQL coders. Designed for beginners but advanced users may come away with some new techniques to try when they get home.-Ken Kornblum-BMC Software
