Tired of the repetitive urgent requests for a new Dynamic VIPA or a TCP port that someone needs immediately to deploy a new instance of middleware on your z/OS systems? Tired of maintaining spreadsheets with a list of IP addresses and ports that are available and that you can use when the next request comes along? z/OS Cloud Services comes the rescue!
In this session our speaker will describe how z/OS Network Administrators can use new z/OSMF Configuration Assistant Cloud interfaces to set up TCP/IP resource pools for Dynamic VIPA addresses, TCP and UDP ports, and even VTAM Application Names for new middleware instances that are deployed via the z/OS Cloud Services. The resource pools can be set up ahead of time based on the anticipated needs of your users. They are then dynamically provisioned and activated on your TCP/IP stack when requested by new z/OS middleware instances such as CICS, MQ, and WebSphere without you having to be involved in the actual request. This allows for much faster provisioning of networking resources by taking away manual configuration options while still allowing network administrators to retain full control over IP addresses, Ports and VTAM Application names that new z/OS middleware instances use.-Gus Kassimis-IBM Corporation
