Using open source software for development of and inclusion in products is a
familiar and alluring potential sirens' song. Who doesn't love free software
that is maintained by someone else? Why wouldn't I just simply run a one line
command to install and import a package that solves my problem? The "there's no
free lunch" concept effortlessly extends into the open source software domain.
Price and licenses are not the only criteria that should be considered when
selecting open source for use. What else could one consider? What
