RHEL 8.3 introduces infrastructure services to help sys admins to optimize, secure and support the systems better. Some of the areas where 8.3 will help include the following:
- Virtualization - Virtual Machines on IBM Z could use secure execution , nested KVM virtualization is available (TP) running on IBM Z, assign DASD devices, GNome support etc.
- Security - new system roles have been added to support CIS and HIPAA requiremens using SCAP profiles. System roles to help shrink attack by reducing human errors by automation, identity management, Network Based Disk Encryption (NBDE) etc.
- SAP - SAP System roles to pre-configure SAP / SAP HANA / SAP Netweaver
- Container tools - Developers, sys admins could leverage fully supported buildah, skopeo & podman (TP) (e) Debugging - GDB support process record N replay on IBM Z (previously arch13)
Why part - These features / functions help devops and infrastructure teams to enforce security, virtualization, debugging the issues etc.
How part - Some of them are listed above a- e to help system admins to optimize their environments
