Do you find yourself saying "yes" to others’ requests of you when you really feel like saying "no?" Are you unable to express your discontent with a friend or partner, even if you think it’s justified? Do you find it difficult to accept a compliment?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions you may have a problem negotiating. A key skill for IT professionals is to learn to stand up for yourself in a way that does not violate the rights of another person. It’s a direct, honest and appropriate expression of your feelings and opinions. A major factor in such assertiveness is saying “no” appropriately.
"No" is such a simple word....only two letters. Yet saying "No" out loud is harder for most people than saying, "I'll be glad to”, or “that is fine”. In this lively, interactive, entertaining session you will learn techniques to say “no” effectively.-William C. Cross-St Petersburg College; Sandra Beck-ITS Florida
