While you can have your RACF, ACF2 and Top Secret systems perform a data set name check during OPEN processing for Tape Data Sets, is that sufficient? The answer is an absolute NO. You need to ensure that everything from being able to bypass your tape management system to tape librarian administration are protected and managed. The speakers will go into detail regarding the security setup of the two most common tape management products (DFSMSrmm and CA 1) and give specific examples of what needs to be protected (and why) and which resources should be tightly controlled (and why). Failure to control such basic functionality opens up all your Tape Data Sets so that anyone can read any Tape File without proper validation.-Russell Witt-CA Technologies; Louis Hanna-IBM Corporation
