Mainframes are the among the most capable enterprise servers on the market. Conventional wisdom says that setting up and managing these systems requires deep skills and can be complex at times. IBM Dynamic Partition Manager (DPM) is changing the administration of the mainframe for a whole new user experience. It provides easy and consumable management covering hardware, dynamic partitioning, and I/O configuration from a single management end-point. In this session, we will introduce the Dynamic Partition Manager and discuss its approach and capabilities. Using scenarios like "create partition" or "dynamically add resources to a partition" we will demonstrate the enhanced and simplified management approach and provide deep insights into DPM. Additionally, in this session several new capabilities made available since its first release with z13 GA2, like z/VM 6.4 support and comprehensive CLI support, will be discussed.-Andreas Bieswanger-IBM Corporation
