A growing number of consumers conduct their personal business and shop in the Cloud every day, which results in an enormous flow of web-initiated transactions hitting the supporting – oftentimes CICS – applications. Unfortunately CICS adds 80% overhead to such activity, which it was not designed for. This presentation will expose what causes the CICS overhead, and uncover the technology behind a new type of transaction server that can run CICS transactions with over 50% improvement in footprint, response times, and throughput. Discussion items will include TCP/IP interfacing, native z/OS multi-tasking, and data services. Results of real customer comparisons with CICS/SOAP will be shared.
