There has been an explosion in the amount of data generated daily by humans over the years. The data is generated rapidly and therefore must be stored just as quickly. DB2 12 for zOS provides the ability to ingest un-clustered data at a high rate from many-many concurrent users across multiple Data Sharing members. This session will explain how to take advantage of the Fast Un-clustered Insert feature of DB2 12 for zOS, and how to prepare for it. Hints and Tips will be explained regarding the most efficient use of Fast Insert to maximize throughput and CPU savings. Lessons learned from development and ways to avoid bottle necks will be covered. Performance measurements reports from testing at the Silicon Valley Labs will be shown. Instrumentation information for monitoring performance will be given. The presentation is essential for customers thinking of migrating to DB2 12 for zOS, whether they have applications that insert data rapidly or not.-Kalpana Shyam-IBM Silicon Valley Labs
