This session will introduce basic concepts of encryption. We'll talk about the crypto related functions that are supported on System z: data confidentiality, data integrity, financial/PIN functions and key security and integrity. We'll discuss how those functions can satisfy some of the audit standards and legal requirements that are mandatory today, and how the IBM hardware and software provide the infrastructure to meet all of your crypto requirements. We'll consider the difference between symmetric and asymmetric encryption and look at the types of keys that are available.
