There are a ton of management tools available to help your mainframe communications operate at peak performance and remain highly available. The key is that these tools use a core set of technologies.
In this presentation the speaker will detail the availability, location and use of the basic tools required by the network administrator to diagnose problems in a TCP/IP network. The diagnostic path will include initial problem determination, possible causes, and actions to be taken. The effects of some of the specialized traffic (e.g. ICMP, DNS) will also be explained in brief. The use of the utilities (such as 'ping', 'traceroute', 'netstat', traces, and packet capture utilities) will be shown in some detail, both on and off (where appropriate) the z/OS platform.-Dean Butler-IBM Corporation
