JES is more than just a black hole that absorbs JCL and ejects SYSOUT data sets.  It is the component of MVS that manages batch work and SYSOUT data sets.  This presentation will help you understand what JES2 does and how to interact with it.  The intended audience is system or application programmers new to z/OS that want a greater understanding of batch processing in z/OS.
