As of z/OS 2.5, WLM coefficient settings were removed; IBM made a good move in sunsetting an obsolete set of variables. I/O priority should follow. WLM I/O Priority has been around for a long time and is in use at many datacenters. A recent survey revealed many sites are not even clear on what the setting does. While the default is ‘off’ the recommendation in the WLM Planning manual is ‘on’. In this presentation we will demonstrate why this option should be turned off and perhaps removed entirely like the coefficients.
