This presentation hypothesizes that the mainframe and it's ecosystem provide the enterprise with a great many capabilties, and that those capabilties in turn provide a great deal of value to the business. Yet the bridges between mainframe IT and the business ... between operations and development ... between perception and reality ... are growing weaker and without repair are increasingly prone to failure.  And without attention, utilization of mainframe capabiltilies will ebb.
Our speaker will review methods and tools to build bridges within the enterprise that illustrate the value of the mainframe to the business, that communicate the capabilities of the mainframe to developers and architects and business analysts, and that promote the management of those capabiltiies addressing issues preventing ongoing strategic mainframe utilization for new workloads.Â
In this presentation we will explore mainframe capabilties and IT metrics associated thereto. We will also discuss IT metrics and their mapping to business metrics. Further, we will cover business metrics and their presentation via a business metrics dashboard. Finally, we will discuss the business metrics dashboard and its assocation with a mainframe capabitlities dashboard.
Through systemic methods for associating mainframe capabitlies with business outcomes with constituent-based focus on operators, engineers, developers, architects, and business process owners, we believe the mainframe can be "re"-Viewed with an open eye for the terrifically valuable enterprise computing asset that it is.-Montgomery Bauman-IBM Corporation; Scott Chapman-Enterprise Performance Strategies Inc.
