The IBM z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF) is a framework for managing various aspects of a z/OS environment through a Web browser interface. In this session the speaker will provide an introduction to performance and workload management with z/OSMF. z/OSMF Workload Management allows to create, edit and review WLM policies and integrates many new functions that simplify the management of WLM policies, such as integrated best-practice checking during policy editing and a repository to store policies. The new
Resource Monitoring application introduced in z/OSMF V1R12 provides a state-of-the-art web front-end which allows you to monitor the performance and resource consumption of z/OS sysplexes and Linux images in your installation. The application consists of two tasks within the z/OSMF
Performance category:
- With the Monitoring Desktopstask you can monitor performance metrics enterprise-wide from one single point of control. You can use a predefined set of desktops and also create and save your own custom views.
- The Sysplex Statustask offers a quick health check of all your z/OS sysplexes. It is also the location where you can define your z/OS sysplexes and Linux images to be monitored in the Monitoring Desktops task
The z/OSMF Capacity Provisioning task simplifies the work of a z/OS CP administrator and provides functionality to
- manage connections to CPMs
- view reports for domain status, active configuration and active policy.
