The new IBM software pricing models have made focusing on optimizing mainframe current MSU consumption more important than ever. Each of the new models use 3 to 6-month historical peak MSU utilization charges to determine their “baseline” or starting point for sizing and pricing. The baseline is then carried throughout the remainder of the contract, and with most contracts requiring growth, the starting point is key. If you are thinking about moving to one of the new models, the speakers will walk you through how the baseline is set, how to optimize the baseline to get the most out of a new model, and the potential “gotchas” the new models can bring.-Steve Solomon-BMC; Jeremy Hamilton-BMC
