The MVSS Project focuses on education, professional networking, & industry influence in the area of IBM Z Storage Management, and the facilities and products necessary to support these functions. Join us in our project opening to learn more about our project and the activities we have planned for St. Louis and also hear our keynote speaker, Mark Wilson.
Preparing for a cyber-attack is more than just prevention. With Advanced Persistent Threats from state-level adversaries using sophisticated means to lure your employees into inadvertently deploying ransomware on your systems, the enterprise focus must comprise the entire threat lifecycle from prevention, detection to incident response and planned recovery.
Availability of the platform has never been better; unplanned downtime is nearly unheard of in today’s mainframe. However, this is largely accomplished through data replication which, despite nearly eradicating availability issues, can be your worst nightmare if your enterprise experiences intentional data corruption – such as ransomware. Having the ability to “air gap” consistent snapshots of your DASD is a must. Without a technology such as this, you’ll be stuck trying to piece your system back together with tape backups for days (if at all).
In this talk Mark will explain the reality of trying to recover a system that has had replicated data corruption, and why this newest technology which allows for air-gapped snapshots is vital to surviving a cyber attach and keeping your business viable.-Russell Witt-CA Technologies; Mark Wilson-RSM Partners; Chad Rikansrud-RSM Partners Ltd
