As IBM IMS celebrates its 50th anniversary, it seems fitting to remember that IMS data was originally accessible only to COBOL and PL/I applications in IMS. As the IT industry evolved around IMS, applications outside of IMS, and on platforms other than IBM Z, were enabled to access IMS data. Customers could keep their data on IMS and IBM Z, and retain the unique performance qualities of service, rather than move the data off platform. Opening access to IMS data means that API clients or Java EE servers running on any platform can use JDBC/SQL to directly access IMS data. Join this session to hear how IMS customers have leveraged the Open Access capability to access IMS data remotely from other servers.-Carlos Alvarado-IBM
