z/OS Communications Server's IPSec and IP packet filtering provide an essential layer of server endpoint "self-protection" for mainframe systems and data. IPSec protects data in the network by providing encryption and authentication services transparently to z/OS applications and middleware. IP packet filtering controls which packets are allowed in and out of z/OS.
In this session the speaker will describe both functions, and will help you start planning for a z/OS-based IPSec and IP packet filtering solution. We will discuss general IPSec and packet filtering concepts, z/OS-specific implementation features, and configuration steps for implementing IPSec and IP packet filtering using the Network Configuration Assistant for z/OS Communications Server.
