IBM System z issued a new Statement of General Direction on July 12, 2011 stating that the servers following z196 and z114 will NOT support ESCON channels as an orderable feature or via carry forward. So how do you plan and prepare for the elimination of ESCON channel connectivity on your mainframes while maintaining a mixed peripheral environment that includes ESCON and even Bus/Tag devices both locally and remotely? IBM, Brocade and Optica have partnered to assist mainframe customers through this protocol transition. This session will discuss the planning steps, and discuss some of the IBM planning/modeling tools available for use to optimize the performance of your infrastructure.
Presenter(s): Sean Seitz, Optica; Stephen R. Guendert, Brocade Communications Systems and Patty Driever, IBM Corporation
