IBM’s Sub-Capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) introduced in October 2000 began to disconnect IBM’s Monthly License Charge (MLC) for key software products from being based on the customer’s installed mainframe capacity. This has continued, but each site must take action to reduce their IBM MLC and zIPLA charges. It is the customer’s responsibility to determine the best software pricing options for their site(s). This session will discuss the current and most recent IBM pricing metrics including 2014's Mobile Workload Pricing for System z hardware, software asset management, leveraging PricingPlexes.
The session will also discuss the need for auditing SCRT, and MWRT before they are submitted to IBM and the resultant software invoices that IBM prepares.-Alan Sherkow-I/S Management Strategies, Ltd.; Richard S. Ralston-Humana, Inc.
