In this session, the speaker will cover several best practices for those that use VSAM Recording Level Sharing (RLS). These practices start with configuration defaults and recommendations; continue through a few common problems resulting from a poor configuration; and end by discussing how to find optimal configurations for your environment. We’ll discuss buffer and cache sizing, CI size optimizing, direct vs. sequential processing, and the difference between ESDS and KSDS within RLS processing. If you’ve ever wondered about tuning your RLS configuration, this is the session to attend. The speaker will go over the benefits RLS can provide and the steps involved to implement RLS on your catalogs. Using VSAM Record Level Sharing with your user catalogs can maximize efficiency, increase throughput, and reduce resource usage.-Terri Menendez-IBM Corporation
