Accessing Fibre Channel attached devices using their SCSI interfaces differs significantly from using their FICON personality. Differences comprise terminology, configuration, systems management, debugging and performance analysis as well as security aspects and capabilities. In this presentation, we give an overview of all these differences, provide usage examples and present criteria, which help you to select the appropriate attachment option for your specific problem and hints to operate your SCSI/FCP environment in a safe and secure way.
