Software used for audit can be used for other sysprog functions as well. It is my very own sysprog multi-tool that helps me make sense of changes to critical data sets; and even z/OS UNIX files and directories. Not only can I determine what has changed but when it was changed; and by whom. This information helps me to complete my day-to-day work with more reliable results; and simplifies the task of meeting audit requirements. Once tracked; a specific file or PDS/PDSE member can be restored back to a specific iterative change. Critical data sets for audit can be tracked for changes and reported upon.
Controls can be defined that specify when a specific file can be updated; and by whom. Other features include OEM program execution control; MVS command control and tracking; a change control facility; a sophisticated compare engine; IPL and init data; diverse reporting; a job scheduler; and data set and module tracking facility.-Tim Bourgeault-US Bank
