With the introduction of virtual tape libraries in the mainframe environment DR readiness can be easily measured. It is no longer necessary to show up at your recovery site with a small army of people and stacks of tape cartridges. The advantages of deduplication, data replication and snapshot technology permits full read/write of your backup data to allow complete DR testing. Not only is your data already resident at the DR site, you can perform the tests from your desktop in a fraction of the time it traditionally takes. The biggest advantage is that your replication continues uninterrupted during testing so your production and DR sites never get out of synch.
This session will examine some basic mainframe concepts of storage while focusing on ways virtual tape solutions can enhance DR readiness and establish more stringent RPO and RTO objectives to meet an organization's service level requirements. Discussion points include:
The flexibility of DR testing within a virtual tape environment
The benefits of data deduplication
Reduce costs by eliminating tape handling and travel expenses.
Be confident with your DR plans
