IBM Enterprise License Agreements may offer advantages for customers, but customers need to understand the details of how MLC costs are handled within an ELA to avoid future surprise bills or overpaying IBM. Planning and communication is critical for this process and the Capacity Planner should be an integral part of the ELA discussion.
This session will open with a brief discussion of IBM software license types and how those are handled within an ELA, with a focus on MLC pricing.
We'll then discuss the different things that need to be thought about and planned for as part of an ELA. Recommendations actions before, during, and after the ELA negotiation will be discussed.
This will session will uniquely attempt to present both sides of the issues by being co-presented by an IBMer and a customer.-Scott Chapman-American Electric Power; Nancy Pearlman-IBM Corporation
