Most users see the role of shared DASD serialization (GRS), as only to provide shared DASD integrity. This is a big mistake. Resource serialization has its hands in most areas of Parallel Sysplex. From a performance standpoint, it affects most workloads, and functionality. It also plays a role in RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability). Understanding the use of these "serialization tools" will enable a user to check on their workload performance, be able to identify and resolve resource contention, and improve the overall working aspects of their Parallel Sysplex environment. If you view resource serialization as only providing "data integrity" and/or want to get the most out of performance for your Parallel Sysplex environment, then this session is a must in opening your eyes to a hidden aspect of Parallel Sysplex.
