IBM provided tool - ‘MVSDS’ - enables users to access z/OS text PDSE’s and flat files via any web browser (restricted by RACF rules, and one’s firewall configurations). MVSDS has many practical applications in the z/OS world, even when just using the basic text viewing capabilities. When combined with BASE SAS ‘ODS Graphics’, graphical and HTML based reports can be a created, stored and accessed entirely on the z/OS platform. This enables one to use the advanced scheduling and data storage capabilities available on a z/os platform for all of your reporting needs, and only Base SAS is needed. Additionally, movement of data, in particular RMF and SMF data is not necessary. This paper covers non-SAS topics on how to take advantage of this ability, and also presents an overview of what can be done using Base SAS.-Patricia E. Wingfield-Bank of America
