Private optical networks based on Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) are an integral part of the picture when it comes to connecting geographically-dispersed data centers. This is especially true when a parallel sysplex over distance requires a reliable connectivity infrastructure.
In today’s networks, WDM devices and optical services based on WDM technology are becoming more and more of a commodity. Thus most manufacturers and service providers are able to transport all kind of signals over distance, even IBM Mainframe unique protocols like ISC-3 or Infiniband.
But this does not mean that all transport equipment is more or less the same!
This session will provide you with a look behind the scenes of today’s WDM transport systems and technologies.
You will learn more about the different techniques used while we examine the pros and cons of the various solutions and how these are key to the stability and performance of your overall datacenter infrastructure. Uli Schlegel ; ADVA Optical Networking SE
